A Busy Day for Conservatives Wednesday, November 4, 2009
Yesterday was a big day for conservatives in
Denver or, more correctly, a big evening. The activities began at sundown at the Greek
Theater in Civic Center Park across Broadway from the State Capitol, when the Tea
Party Express rolled into town. It was just one stop in its 35-city tour across
the U.S., the second such trip this year, but the first time the tour had come to Denver.
An estimated 2.000 patriots attended the
rally, along with about 20 pro-Health Care nutjobs who tried unsucessfully to crash the
party. They were shouted down, then escorted out by Denver's finest.
The rally's marquis featured conservative
luminaries such as Deborah Johns, the Marine Mom who originated the idea of the T.P.
Express and was the MC; Lloyd Marcus of We're Havin' a Tea
Party fame; Joe the Plumber; guitarist and singer Ron and Kay Rivoli (Dial '1" for English);
and even Arvada's own Brian T. Campbell, Jr., the local Tea Party organizer and candidate
for Congress.

Two hours after the start of of theTea
Party, a forum for Colorado's Republican gubernatorial candidates began on the campus of
Colorado Christian University in Lakewood. The forum was sponsored by the Centennial
Institute and drew an audience of between 100 and 200 people . Participants included all
three Republican candidates: Scott McGinnis, Josh Penry, and Dan Maes. The candidates
answered questions posed by Centennial Institute President John Andrews and two CCU
students, Samantha Scoggins and Chad Ryder.

RON MICHEL, who attended the forum, stated,
"All three candidates did a good job. I would say that Penry probably stood out
slightly better. No great revelation from any candidate."
Reporting in the Durango Herald, reporter
Joe Hanel wrote,
All three played to an upbeat Republican
crowd at Colorado Christian University, just minutes after the Republican candidate for
Virginia governor was declared the winner.
"Folks, the revolution is on,"
Maes said.

Healthcare Issue Sunday, October 25, 2009
Are you tongue-tied when your liberal
friends or family members want to defend the various healthcare proposals floating around
Washington? Dennis Prager's column 10 Questions for Supporters of 'ObamaCare will
help you win the battle and impress everyone at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
The Denver Chapter conducted its monthly
meeting on Tuesday, October 20, at the Beckman Center on the campus of Colorado Christian
University.
Members in attendance, along with a few
guests, heard a stirring presentation by retired U.S. Navy Captain Richard
"Dick" Life entitled "Understanding Russia's Leaders". Capt. Life's
Naval career was dedicated to intelligence work, including a tour as an assistant to the
U.S. Naval Attaché in Russia and the former Soviet Union. He traced the evolution of
Russian and Soviet foreign policies since the middle 1980s. During the Q&A session
that followed, he gave his assessment of Russia's current policies regarding Iran and the
Middle East in general, and related how the drastic changes that have taken place since
the end of World War II have changed Russia's international policies over the years.
After the presentation, Chapter Treasurer
BRENDA FISHER gave a brief summary of the chapter's financial situation. This was followed
by a discussion led by WILL FREEMAN on his investigation into the possibility of blocking
the entry of the activist group ACORN into Colorado. It appears that the only way to
accomplish this is through the State Legislature. WILL and JACK OTT both committed to
talking to various members of the Legislature to determine the feasibility of such
actions.
The remainder of the meeting was dedicated
to reviewing and approving recommended changes to the chapter's Bylaws. The changes
included:
1. Changing the official name of the
organization to "Coalition for a Conservative Majority - Denver Chapter";
2. Removing all references to (CCM)
National, and replacing them with "Coalition for a Conservative Majority -
Colorado";
3. Clarifying the differences between
"Standing Committees" and "Special Committees";
4. Changes to the responsibilities of the
Chapter's officers relating to the Standing Committees;
5. Clarifying the procedures for electing
chapter officers.
The changes were unanimously approved by the
members, and the revised Bylaws are now on the website and can be reviewed HERE.
The meeting adjourned at 8:40PM.
The next meeting will be held at 7:00PM on
Tuesday, November 17 at the Beckman Center.
